Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
Lord of Emperors by Guy Gavriel Kay
Letter from America by Alistair Cookie
My Grandfather’s House by Charles Ritchie
Ruined City by Nevil Shute
Knight Crusader by Ronald Welch
The Rainbow and the Rose by Nevil Shute
It Started With Paris by Cathy Kelly
The Woman Who Stole My Life by Marian Keyes
What did you pick up this week?
It’s an interesting mix! With the Nevil Shute, I liked Ruined City. I haven’t read The Rainbow and The Rose in years, but I found a copy recently at the library sale.
I read Ruined City yesterday and quite enjoyed it. Not Shute’s best but a very solid effort. I don’t know much about The Rainbow and the Rose but am looking forward to trying it too.
Your library books always seem interesting Clair, but I do miss the brief descriptions you used to give. Still, it probably keeps my book buying to reasonable levels!
I like when I have time to do the blurbs to – there just hasn’t been much time to spare lately! Hopefully that’s something I’ll resume again this year.
Looks great! I didn’t know the Marian Keyes book was out yet. I didn’t like My Real Children, but I think I’m in the minority there.
I need to do a library loot post too – I took my husband with me to the library to help carry home all the books!!!
I have mixed feelings about Walton: I adored Tooth and Claw, was entertained by the “Small Change” trilogy, and did not at all enjoy Among Others. We’ll see how I do with this one!
Among Others was one of my all time favorite books, I loved the Small Change series, and I haven’t gotten to Tooth and Claw yet. If that’s any gauge, you might really enjoy My Real Children. Can’t wait to hear what you think!!
