Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
A flying post, as I rush through this week. Three much-anticipated books: one I’ve been looking forward to reading for years, one by an author whose other works I’ve enjoyed, and one I know absolutely nothing about other than that it has a charming cover and a very twee title.
What did you pick up this week?
I read “Miss Prim” about a month ago and enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy it too!
I’m afraid I abandoned it after the first hundred or so pages, all of which I found hard going. Still, I’m glad I tried it!
I bought Landline but haven’t read it yet. Enjoy your loot!
Thanks, Linda!
Read Whisky Galore years ago in school and loved it! It’s sort of every Scotsman dream really – you’ve made me think I must keep checking Leigh On Sea beach near me just in case dreams come true!
I’m really looking forward to it, Col.
Miss Prim has such a gorgeous cover … I’m tempted …
The cover is gorgeous but, having now dipped into it, the content is no where near as engaging.
I’m excited. I have 3 new books in transit at my library (they were in transit earlier, but because I was going away for 10 days, I had to release them and let them loop around again). The newest releases by Louise Penny, Rhys Bowen and Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Yay!
Yay indeed! I’ve made my way to first in line for SEP’s new book and I’m anxiously checking the library website each day to see if it’s ready.
The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters and I can’t get my nose out of it!
I’ve only read two of Waters’ books but they were the very definition of unputdownable. Will have to get my hands on The Paying Guests some time this fall/winter!
The Awakening of Miss Prim is the most fantastic book. Allow time to read it on one go, and then wish you had savoured it!
Turns out it wasn’t the book for me but I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I picked up way too many things this week, and I am having a hard time sorting through them to decide what to read first. Everything looks so wonderful!
That’s the very best problem to have!
Miss Prim (just from the title) reminds me of Mr Messy and Miss Neat!! Is it like that?
Sadly, it isn’t.
I just collected Ali Smith’s new release How to be Both which is tipped to win the Booker.. We’ll see of the pundits get it right this time
Enjoy!
I am learning about new books and authors. I had not heard of any of these. I will have add them to my Goodread’s TBR Iist. Thanks for sharing.
