Ooo, a chair next to a corridor of bookshelves – I love it!
I love the way the chair (loveseat?) fits so perfectly into the niche, with windows on both sides. The wallpaper is a bit busy for me, particularly on the ceiling as well – but it’s balanced out by the bookshelves covering the rest of the wall space. and I l love the bookshelves, even though they seem to be high ones. Those look like real and read books on the shelves – always one of the criteria I use looking at your lovely photos. My only quibble – the birdcages on the floor would have to go – something for me to trip over, blocking the shelves & collecting dust.
I like this little niche to nestle into with all those books. A good one.
Very cozy little nook for reading and dreaming!
Very nice use of the space. I agree with Lisa, lose the wallpaper and birdcages, but I really like the library step stool.
Very charming. It looks so comfortable. I like how the sitting area is surrounded by (relatively) blank walls, but the books are still nearby and in view. Perfect balance.
Love the nook, but would definitely replace the wallpaper.
And I like that it’s a Brooklyn Heights Co-op.
I love the wallpaper, even the papered-to-match ceiling, and I know the constraints of the size of the room mean that a wider sofa would not be possble, but oh, I’d love a wider sofa to stretch out on! But one can’t have everything, just the birdcages would have to go!
This is lovely. I’d keep the wallpaper – I *love* wallpaper – the more “vintage” and William Morris-y the better! And is that an arched window in one wall. Mmm.
I’d also get rid of the birdcages, and I’d replace the little loveseat with an overstuffed armchair & footstool (okay – let’s be completely honest – I do like a recliner, though they’re not usually terribly aesthetically pleasing!) & sidetable & reading lamp. But these are so minor – the space itself is very nice – I can imagine it easily as a liveable library for real readers. 🙂
I just love this one!
