Another week, another library that perfectly suits my tastes. I’m a sucker for plaid (probably dating back to years of childhood Christmas dresses, not just the school uniform I wore from ages twelve to eighteen), wood panelling, and window seats. This library has them all!
Ohhh: I want this library too! Look at that view! I’m a sucker for plaid as well, although I never had to wear it for a school uniform.
Plaid just screams cosy and familiar to me, which is why I want it not just in a library but everywhere!
I love love love the window seat. Beautiful.
It’s difficult to go wrong with a window seat, isn’t it? Always such a tempting place to curl up and read.
Another perfect one! Where do you find them? And I like plaid, although we never had school uniforms (I always envied those who had uniforms, but I guess it is the other way around in countries that do have uniforms).
This picture was emailed to me by a friend but I follow a lot of design blogs and bookish tumblr feeds in search of ideal libraries. The best kind of research! I LOVED having a uniform. I loved my whole private school experience in fact but the uniform was incredibly convenient: no need to ever worry about what you wear!
Okay, I am very jealous right now; that is so awesome.
Isn’t it gorgeous?
Ooo, there just HAS to be a fireplace just to the right in front of that chair that we can’t see, doesn’t there. Love this one. My dh tells everyone that his favorite color is “plaid.” Having been young in the preppy 80’s it is still a favorite at our house. Never mind, I’m a sucker for a window seat. This one is definitely a keeper!
I’m so glad you decided to go home AND in time for the holidays. Good decision that I don’t think you’ll ever regret. 🙂
Why couldn’t preppiness have been the ’80s trend that came back into vogue rather than neon colours and tights? Why???
I can’t thank you enough for your support through this rough period. You always manage to say exactly the right thing. If I could pop on down to Texas and give you a hug, I would!
I forgot my “?” after doesn’t there — and, of course, “young” is a relative term — we were young adults. 🙂
I always love your “library lust” posts. It seems a ‘novel’ idea – no pun intended.
Reading Susan’s comment you must have made a decision, and I’m so happy for you!
Thanks Barbara, I’m so glad you enjoy them! The Library Lust posts are among my favourites too.
And yes, I have made the decision to move home and I’m VERY happy about it!
I love the arched doorway, the ENORMOUS window/window seat, and the curtains…you could totally draw them and hide in your own reading world whenever you wanted!!
That’s a benefit to the room I didn’t even think of!
