Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Sharlene from Real Life Reading that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
Cruel Acts and The Cutting Place by Jane Casey – to no one’s surprise, my library adventures were focused on finishing off Casey’s Maeve Kerrigan crime series. I grabbed these on Saturday and was done the series by Sunday evening. Now it’s a long wait until February 2023 for book 10
The Killing Kind by Jane Casey – where to go when a series is done? Onto this much-praised stand alone
Factory Summers by Guy Delisle – I’ve enjoyed all of Delisle’s books, whether they be about parenting adventures or his time in China, Israel, Burma, or North Korea. Here he looks back on his teen years and a summer job at the local paper mill.
Tango Lessons by Meghan Flaherty – I’ve borrowed this memoir – about a young woman taking up tango and moving on from past trauma – before and am hoping this will finally be the time I read it!
The Island Home by Libby Page – I loved Page’s debut novel, The Lido, about loneliness and the power of community and she returns to these themes again in this story set on small Scottish island.
What did you pick up this week?
I also loved Libby Page’s The Lido. It was the perfect feel good read for me last year. I hope to get my hands on her other books soon. Enjoy.
It’s a perfect book during Covid times! I’ve read it a couple of times now and would happily reach for it again when stressed.
I read the first of Jane Casey’s Maeve Kerrigan books after your recent recommendation. I enjoyed it and am now eagerly waiting for my library requests for the rest of the series to come in.
Excellent! And that’s the way to request books – as a series, none of this one at a time nonsense 😉
I share many of your interests and really enjoy your blog. I read Agnes Turnbull on your recommendation because I love those older oddball goodies. I wasn’t sure if I’d relate to this particular topic, though. But I loved it, especially for middle of the night reading when I can’t sleep, and want something soothing. I don’t belong to book clubs because I don’t like to read other people’s choices – but your’s are never disappointing. Thanks! Sue D-J
What a tribute! I found Turnbull through another blogger so glad to have passed on the recommendation.
I also picked up The Killing Kind by Jane Casey. This is my first book by this author and I love it!❤📚
Excellent! I’m looking forward to getting started.
I was oversees for the past three weeks and had set my ‘holds ‘activation date set to match my return. This way I was sure to have a stack of books waiting for me on my arrival. The book I am most looking for ward to read is ‘The Plot’ by Jean Hanff Korelitz.
Excellent planning!
My sisters and I love love love Maeve and wait impatiently for each book. I didn’t not enjoy the standalone but the plot was pretty ridiculous.

Maeve is definitely the main draw of the series so I’m intrigued to see what I make of this stand alone.
