So I’m trying to figure out the middle island bit of the stairs (the piece that juts out towards the window). Does it lead to more stairs to an upper floor, do you think? Just curious. Nice pic either way!
A number of years ago I almost rented an apartment just because it had a long hallway that I could fill with bookshelves (even though the rest of the layout wasn’t very good!)
All of the above questions, plus, what’s with that window and its sill? Window too high to stand and look out of, pseudo window seat both too high and too narrow to curl up with a good book in. Oh wait…That’s what the dead end balcony is for: to stand in and see out the window. Because it’s certainly not for leaning over from to get a book. :^0
I would probably fall down the stairs trying to find a book😢
Excellent use of space! And I am very impressed that they managed to sort all the books so that are of consistent height.

It looks nice, but I cannot figure how to reach the top shelves above the stairs. I am especially conscious of this as a short person.
