Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Sharlene from Real Life Reading that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
The Enchanted Hour by Meghan Cox Gurdon – Just one book for me this week but it’s an excellent one. I am loving this look at the power of reading aloud and learning all sorts of interesting things about child development along the way. I’m off to visit my 20-month-old niece (and brand new nephew, born last Thursday) next week and am getting very excited about bringing lots of books to read aloud to her! (Book Depository)
What did you pick up this week?
Destroy, She Said by Marguerite Duras. But I don’t think I’ll be getting around to it anytime soon as my TBR pile beckons and judges me from the corner.
I’m also finding myself reading lots from my TBR pile lately so I understand completely!
Congratulations on your newborn nephew! That sounds like an interesting read. I’ll have to go see if I can find it
Congrats on the family addition ! How fun. Hope everyone is healthy and happy. Btw, the subtitle of your book mentions “the age of distraction”; there’s a very good (very academic) title called “The Pleasures of Reading in the Age of Distraction” by Alan Jacobs. Like I said, it’s not the easiest read in the world, but worth soldiering through.
Thanks! Everyone is doing great (except big sister when she realises baby brother is taking mom’s attention. Fun times ahead for them!). The Jacobs book is already on my library “for later” list so it’s definitely something I’m interested in and looking forward to!
Thank you!
I think you’d find this one interesting, especially since reading is already such an important part of your boys’ lives.
