I’m with Lisa. Were mid-century people willing to embrace uncomfortable seating because of the red scare..or bomb drills…or just general discomfort in the world? Whatever the reason, and no matter how many mid-century modern enthusiasts tell me they’re REALLY comfortable, no matter how they look, mid-century modern chairs are not my cup of tea. Love the hardscaping, though, and the chair color. Thanks for another Saturday enjoyment.
I like the shelves, and the natural light, but I’d want some more comfortable reading chairs!
My husband and I have always dreamed of having a home library big enough for one of those ladders on wheels!

This photo might be from Nicole Balch’s “Making it Lovely” blog? looks like her library!
Thanks for spotting that! I’ve updated the post with credit and a link to her blog.
I love the built-ins, but I’ve never been one to love reading at a table. Reminds me of studying in college.
I believe this photo is also an early iteration of Nicole at Making It Lovely’s library. She’s changed the seating up some since this photo was taken: http://makingitlovely.com/category/our-victorian-house/library-our-victorian-house/.
Thanks! It’s always a relief to find the source. I’ve updated the post with credit and a link to her blog.
