Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
What did you pick up this week?
Just finished “The Beekeeper’s Ball” by Susan Wiggs. Part love story, part historical fiction covering the Danish resistance in WWII.
Sounds interesting! I think the only thing I’ve ever read that even touched on the Danish resistance is the children’s classic Number the Stars. As that was twenty years ago, might be time to revisit the topic!
The Beekeeper’s Ball is the second in a series. I didn’t know this when I started it, but, it works well as a stand alone book. I read Number the Stars so long ago I’d forgotten it. This one made me want to read more about the Danish resistance.
I’ve never read Shute, but he keeps popping off. I should check some out!
I love Shute but I’d maybe skip this one as your intro. It seems to be pretty evenly split between geeking out over planes and being excessively (even for 1951) racist. Much better to start with A Town Like Alice, Pied Piper or maybe Pastoral. Happy reading!
Like the variety offered here. So many interesting reads.
I always strive for variety. That way, no matter what mood I’m in I know I have something that will appeal.
Great loot! Enjoy!
Thanks!
An Iron Wind looks quite promising!!
