Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
When I am stressed, I tend to hoard library books. I am exceeding stressed just now so the only obvious solution this week to was to add to the hoard. There are very few surfaces in my home that are not covered in piles of books right now – but it is a peace-bringing sort of choas.
From this week’s additions, I am particularly excited to read The Habsburg Empire (my favourite of all empires).
What did you pick up this week?
I don’t know Rosenblatt, but The Boy Detective sounds very good.
I picked up
Literary Wonderlands: A Journey Through the Greatest Fictional Worlds Ever Created
A condition that I sympathize with and share. 🙂 I won’t tell you how many library books I have out…
Sorry to hear you are stressed. Strangely pleased to hear you have a favourite empire! As I remember it, which may well be inaccurately, Danubia tends to write off the Habsburg Empire as doomed from the start.
I hoard library books, at times, too! Looks like you found some great works. Things could be worse…at least you have to return the library books–so there’s a constant cycle of temporary de-cluttering. Best wishes on enjoying this set of reads.
What a fabulous collection of reads.
Can you please remind me of the two war diaries written by women in Germany during WWII. You wrote about both of them a few years ago and I did not write down their names.
Thanks.
I suspect you’re remembering The Past is Myself by Christabel Bielenberg and On the Other Side by Mathilde Wolff-Mönckeberg – both are absolutely wonderful!
