The best possible argument for buying a home with a barn would be to convert it into a library/study, as with this room here (Alberto Manguel did it too). Books trump livestock.

I didn’t think I could love shelves more than on the previous photo, but these are just gorgeous. I think it’s the dove grey paint. Who would’ve thought the colour of a battleship would look so good when used for bookshelves?

It just needs a good comfortable lounging/reading chair – I’m sure there’s one out of sight.

The shelves do look full of real books, ones that have been read.
