As is tradition here at The Captive Reader, I am celebrating my (29th) birthday today by sharing my five favourite libraries from the last year of Library Lust posts. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday – and thanks for all your lustful library posts.
Thank you (and you’re very welcome)!
Happy Birthday! I love the look of these libraries. Thanks for sharing the images.
Thank you, Pat.
Happy birthday and what a great tradition! And love the second one — so dreamy.
Thanks, Corey. I really enjoy this birthday tradition.
Happy Birthday, and thanks for giving us this great present! 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful day/
Thank you, Audrey! I had a great birthday.
Happy birthday!
Thanks, Linda!
A very Happy Birthday to you, Claire!
Thank you, Barb!
Happy birthday! I hope there are some bookish gifts to add to your own library!
Thanks, Stefanie! No gifts (bookish or otherwise) but I’m still struggling to find shelf space for all the books I brought home from Portland, so it’s probably for the best.
Happy birthday, Claire … Oh, to be 29 again!
I love the second room the best, with the sage green shelves. The rest of the house is in one of my magazines, but I have thousands and can’t remember which … and this house was featured on a TV programme, too, if my memory serves me correctly.
Thank you, Margaret. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the rest of that house – I can only guess how lovely it would be based on this beautiful, welcoming room.
Happy birthday! Those are all amazing, but I think the fourth one is my favourite. Though with that view, I would probably not get a lot of work done…
Thank you. And, yes, that view is hard to beat!
A very happy birthday to you!
Thank you!
Many happy returns on the day!
Thanks, Susan!
Adding my happy birthday wishes, and hoping to hear about bookish presents! and cake!
No bookish presents (once you’re an adult, my family doesn’t exchange gifts at birthdays, generally) but the cake was very delicious indeed!
Happy Birthday!!! (I knew the one with the fabulous view of the mountains would make the cut 😉 )
Thanks! (and how could it not?)
Happy birthday to you! What an interesting range of favourites. I like the second one best — armchairs and fireplace always do it for me.
Thank you, Harriet.
Happy Birthday. Interesting that four of your five favourites are all white and light and very clean-looking and clutter-free. I quite like the third one, but it needs a cosy chair and stacks of books on the table!
Thanks, Christine. I definitely prefer pale, tidy rooms – I try a post a variety of rooms through the year but you’ll rarely find the dark, clutter ones in my birthday favourites post!
Happy, happy birthday! No better way to celebrate than looking at lots of lovely books.
Thank you (and agreed!).
lovely ! only, that bed with the book shelves behind and over the headboard…. too much of a risk, obviously no one in an earthquake prone country came up with that — that would be a major risk here in Chile !
Same here! I love the look of it but, having grown up in an earthquake zone, could never imagine having a shelf over the bed. I had one in my university dorm room and – even though earthquakes are all but unheard of in that area – I spent the entire year feeling nervous every time I went to bed.
Happy Birthday and thank you for all the library views you give us!
Thank you!
Hope you had a very happy (29th – sigh) birthday, and so glad the cake was good, and that you went to Portland on a book-searching expedition. That
is a great way to celebrate a birthday.
I like the second one and the third photos, love wood, especially dark wood. In the third one, I’d add comfortable big chairs. And I like the last one, but I’d do the shelves in a dark wood. The rest is fine, but I would worry about the shelves falling on my head, too.
Happy belated birthday. I think my favorite is the second one from the top.
Happy (belated) birthday! The second one is my favorite — I love the cozy feel of the fireplace and the color of the bookshelves.
