Europe Trip: Switzerland

Bachalpsee
The more time I spend in Switzerland, the more jealous I become of Heidi. And of the all the (non-fictional) Swiss who are lucky enough to live and play there. I spent a full week in the Berner Oberland region of Switzerland this summer, hiking every day and getting the absolute maximum value out of my regional transit pass, and there hasn’t been a day since I got back when I haven’t thought longing of it.
Since I can’t go back any time soon, I thought I’d relive my happy memories of the mountains by sharing some of my many photos. Enjoy!

Alpine cow! Solidly 50% of what attracts me to the Swiss Alps are the cows.

View from Schynige Platte to Brienzersee

Iseltwald on Brienzersee

View of Grindelwald Valley from Kleine Scheidegg (random literary trivia: AA Milne proposed to his wife while on holiday in Grindelwald)

Walk from First to Grosse Scheidegg

Lauterbrunnen Valley from the valley floor

Lauterbrunnen Valley from Wengen

Lauterbrunnen Valley from Männlichen (notice a theme?)

Slightly windswept at the Jungfraujoch

Lovely! I haven’t been to Switzerland for decades but you’ve made me long for a visit. Glad you had such a great time.
I’m so jealous of your trip, it looks stunning. I wish I were Heidi or a Swede too. I think Lauterbrunnen Valley is a bucket list place to visit if ever I saw one.
Swiss even, not Swede lol
Beautiful, majestic mountains! I can almost smell the fresh, cool air. Thanks!!

Now I’m longing for the mountains. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures.
Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
Breathtaking! Now, I need to re-read Heidi.
Switzerland looks lovely, and that’s a beautiful photo of you!
So beautiful…saving our pennies for a family visit to Grossi and Grossvater, maybe next summer.
How can those images possibly be real?
Five years ago for my 40th birthday we tacked on 4 days on the end of a southern France trip and stayed in Gindelwald. Seeing your pictures it looks like we did a very similar trip to yours.
