Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Linda from Silly Little Mischief that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
In honour of Margaret Kennedy Reading Week I picked up a few Margaret Kennedy titles this week:
The Feast
Where Stands a Winged Sentry
Lucy Carmichael (I’ve read this one already but, with plans to finally review it this week, wanted a copy to hand to refresh my memory. Also, it’s just such a friendly, nice book to dip into.)
Disobeying Hitler by Randall Hansen – a look at German resistance after the failure of Operation Valkyrie.
Getting Schooled by Garret Keizer
The Mark of the Midnight Manzanilla by Lauren Willig – the newest book in Willig’s Pink Carnation series.
I was surfing through the Thames and Hudson catalogue a few weeks ago and these two stood out for me:
The Highland Clans by Alistair Moffat
The Last Colonial by Christopher Ondaatje
What did you pick up this week?
Nice selection – I have just finished The Feast and adored it!
“The Care and Management of Lies” by Jacqueline Winspear, which I am enjoying tremendously and “The Bees” by Laline Paull; an anthropomorphic tale about life in the hive.
I’ve never read any Margaret Kennedy I’m afraid. Recent library trips have been with the twins, so lots of kids books!
Just linked up my 1st library loot 🙂 been lurking at these posts for ages so fun to join in.
Enjoy your loot!
I do wish my library had ‘Where Stands a Winged Sentry’, and I’m looking to your thoughts about ‘Lucy Carmichael’.
[…] that reminds me that Claire has three of Margaret Kennedy’s works in her library pile: ‘The Feast’, […]
Nice loot! Can’t wait to hear how ‘The Last Colonial’ turns out!
And after reading about your library loot, I immediately rushed out and snagged a copy of Disobeying Hitler from my library. 🙂
