Not my kind of room at all. We can’t all like the same things, thank goodness, and this is just not me at all. For starters, I’m not keen on exposed beams. They are the structure of a building, the skeleton, and like our own skeletons they are best covered. The best part of the room is the abundance of books, that’s not in dispute, but there is nothing there apart from the books which would induce me to stay in this room longer than I could help – no comfy chair or sofa for starters. Even the beige rug on the floor is, well, beige.
I also like the rustic look. But my first thought was a comfy chair too – with a table and a good lamp! And I’d need a ladder or set of library steps, for those top shelves. I’d like to browse those shelves.
That is one serious library. I love exposed beams but as Margaret says we can’t all like the same things. As it stands it’s a room for working rather than leisurely reading, but there’s probably a comfortable sofa or chaise longue behind the camera, so we can just drag it over to the window and hey presto — perfect.
I like this room a lot, but am in agreement that it needs a big comfortable armchair and a very good lamp. An end table would be helpful for holding the few books the reader is perusing.
Yes, and a sturdy ladder is needed, too.
But I love the books and the window.
All it needs is a chaIse longur or a comfy chair…… 🙂
kaggs, I absolutely agree. This is my all-time favorite, IF it has a comfy place!

I like the rustic look. It reminds me of many of the used bookshops I’ve been in.

If I had my way all my walls would be like this. What are walls for if not to hold books? But my husband won’t let me — he likes white space.
This is my favourite room ever. I would immediately provide it with a comfortable chair so that it could be perfect.
