I think I love everything about this room. The light, the tiles on the fireplace, the lovely desk, the really wonderful desk chair…yes, I could settle in here quite happily.
This one’s a beauty, but I want a small but extremely comfortable reading chair just to the right of the fireplace angled toward the bookcases on the left. That would be perfection.
Love all the elements, but overall it’s very formal, if it were mine (ha!) I would add an easy chair – say a Lamino, with the footstool. I know, dream on.
Either white shelves are really, really all the rage, or they just happen to be in the pictures you pick… I admit I prefer wood shelves in wood colors. Oak is the preference, lightly stained.
I could wile away hours in this one, Claire, sitting at the desk, or in what looks like a comfy leather chair in the corner.
Beautiful room.
This is a lovely room, but I find that the white shelves in this traditional library not quite right and, like Richard, I’d like to see lightly stained oak shelves. I expect there are comfortable chairs out of the picture – I’d need a lovely comfortable chair in which to read. Other than that, another great library.
Very nice. Imagine the letters written from the desk. 🙂 I love the tile in the fireplace.
Beautiful for a formal library but not enough colour for me. Too much brown. I could only sit at that desk and probably read not much and write a bit until the brownness closed in. Would like to know what the titles are on the shelves though.
Bit too formal for me… butif I could chintz it up a bit, and install a saggy, baggy comfortable old chair (definitely no leather), and make it much, much, much untidier, then I could be happy there!
One can always dream of such a place!
