Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries.
Marg has the Mr Linky this week!
Only two books for me this week, both of which I’m quite excited about.
The Young Clementina by D.E. Stevenson – Charlotte Dean enjoys nothing more than the solitude of her London flat and the monotonous days of her work at a travel bookshop. But when her younger sister unceremoniously bursts into her quiet life one afternoon, Charlotte’s world turns topsy-turvy.
Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay – Inspired by the glory of Tang Dynasty China in the eighth century, Guy Gavriel Kay melds history and the fantastic into something both powerful and emotionally compelling. Under Heaven is a novel on the grandest narrative scale, encompassing the intimate details of individual lives in an unforgettable time and place.
What did you pick up this week?
I just read Young Clementina last week. I really liked it. I could see end coming, but not until nearing end.
I am looking forward to it. It has been a couple of months since my last D.E. Stevenson book and I’m starting to go into withdrawal. Time to remedy that!
I was just lucky enough to win a copy of The Yong Clementina so I’m looking forward to it!
Lucky you! It is nice to see that her books are slowly being reissued.
Oh, Under Heaven was just wonderful! Hope you enjoy it
I am very excited about it! I have a hold placed on Kay’s newest book but really want to read this before that one comes in.
Both look terrific. Enjoy your loot!
No loot for me this week. Trying to catch up on my old loot!
Thanks, Linda. Good luck working through your old loot!
Both new to me.
Happy to have brought them to your attention!
Coincidentally, I’m reading Under Heaven right now, and am loving it. What is it about his writing?! I read The Lions of al-Rassam last summer and was completely immersed. I am saving The Young Clementina for a trip later this month, but currently reading Stevenson’s “Shoulder the Sky.”
So pleased to hear you’re loving Under Heaven! I’ve adored everything I’ve read so far by GGK and I’m sure I’ll feel the same way about this.
