I am having what can only be described as a difficult sort of week. I think I am still a bit in shock from events that unfolded on Thursday (nothing too awful – indeed, somewhat anticipated – but still upsetting) and what I really wish I could do this weekend is hole myself up in this gorgeous room, light a fire, wrap myself in a blanket and just read non-stop. Even without the room I am going to do my best with the non-stop reading. A diet of Thirkell and Heyer seems in order.
So sorry you have had a bad week. Hope you feel better soon. Non-stop reading seems like an excellent idea. Beautiful room, by the way — I love this series of yours — keep them coming!
Hope things improve – just keep reading!
Heyer is such a comfort, I find. That’s a great room – a nice mix of formal and relaxed.
Love that room, hope your weekend is the antidote required.
Enjoy your quiet book time. That library is gorgeous. I really love it. Thanks for sharing it. Pam
I’m also sorry to hear that you had such a rotten week – and I hope you hae a lovely weekend wrapped in books and deep in Barsetshire or Bath!
Hope things improve soon – and that room is definitely a good cure. I wish I could come and join you in it!
And that’s precisely the kind of room one wishes for a comfort read, isn’t it? I’d happily sit in one of those chairs to read Arabella…
Hope things get better!
I think I would want to find a brighter, lighter room if I was feeling below par. More than anything else though, choosing the right book for the moment would determine whether I achieved a successful escape. I hope you find the right book and, with its help, find your way to a better place.
I love this library, Claire, and wish you could be before that fire all cozy and warm, lost in your books. I hope the next week is better for you, that the dust settles and all.
Ditto the comments of others … sorry you’ve had a bad week, let’s hope that things will improve for you. I have just received High Rising (not read Thirkell before, apart from Three Houses years and years ago) so looking for ward to that. That library looks so inviting, Claire! For once I don’t think I’d change a thing – except, of course, light the fire! A glowing fire in the hearth would make this room perfect for me!
Hope you find your inner peaceful library soon!
So sorry – I hope things improve soon. I would want the butler to light the fire and bring me tea… 🙂
Sorry you’ve had a tough week Claire – hope this coming week will bring you more happiness. Rest and recuperate this weekend – enjoy your reading. I shall be curling up with a good book too, in front of the fire – I’ve had one of those weeks as well! x
Sorry to hear about your week, and hope you manage to get plenty of reading in this weekend!
