Just a quick note to say that I haven’t completely disappeared, though the lack of meaningful posts lately may have seemed to indicate otherwise. There has been much reading and gardening and general enjoyment of life these last few weeks but clearly not a lot of writing. I have so many books I want to tell you all about (The Astaires, Jennifer Kloester’s biography of Georgette Heyer, Trollope’s Doctor Thorne, Thirkell’s The Headmistress, a handful of novels by Susanna Kearsley…the list goes on) and I hope to get back into the swing of things soon.
Forget Me Not
May 7, 2012 by Claire (The Captive Reader)
The important thing is the enjoyment! particularly of books, of course!
I can’t wait to hear all about these books! And it sounds as if you have been enjoying life, which is appropriate for this wonderful garden month of May!
Forget me nots! One of my favorite sights in springtime. I’ll look forward to your reviews in the future. In the meantime, enjoy the season at hand.
The book about Georgette Heyer (now that must be interesting), Susanna Kearsley so much to look forward to.
Will be interested to hear what you think of the Georgette Heyer biography as I read and enjoyed Joan Aiken Hodge’s book last year and don’t know if there is much to be added to that as GH was such a private person.
Really enjoy your posts by the way – thanks for taking the time to share your reading experiences!
So many people I know, either in the real or virtual worlds, seem to have bad news to share of late that is wonderfully refreshing to hear someone talking about “general enjoyment of life”. It is also good to hear about spring, which is supposedly the current season here in Blighty, though one could easily be forgiven for thinking otherwise. Long may your spring enjoyment last.
Absolutely love your photo. Is this in your garden?… And no worries about not posting. Life is for living (and reading and whatever else you want), so no pressure. When you want to post, you will find the time and inclination. In the meantime, read on!
Love the picture, and will look forward to hearing about those titles. Glad to hear that you are having fun and enjoying yourself!
I just read Doctor Thorne in January and loved it, one of my favorites in the series so far. I look forward to reading your review, I think it will inspire me to start The Small House at Allington.
