I made my first-ever batch of marmalade on Sunday and was delighted with the result. I used Delia Smith’s recipe and, unsurprisingly, it turned out perfectly. It tastes delicious (so far removed from most of the store-bought stuff) and it looks stunning. My brother and I have talked about making jams and jellies this summer and I’m feeling much less daunted now that I’ve done this. I also haven’t entirely ruled out the idea of making more marmalade next weekend, while the Seville oranges are still around, so that I’ll have some to give away – there is no way I’m parting with this first batch. I’m far too proud of it!

So impressive!! I have no trouble with jams or chutneys but somehow I am not brave enoug hto try marmarlade!
Congratulations! It looks marvellous! I started making jams and chutneys with fruit from my garden three years and I love it – every year I’m bursting to try some new ideas!
Well done! Great idea and as you say, nothing beats home-made!
Yum! Your marmalade radiates sunshine and the hope of more to come. What a fun and tasty that venture will be with your brother come summer. In-the-meantime, enjoy the marmalade.
I second that yum!
Wow! And yum indeed!
That looks like some good marmalade. Love making Jam, Jelly, and Marmalade so hope you have a wonderful summer of preserving ahead.
I always like that quote from “the pride of miss jean brodie” – Whatever possessed you?” said Miss Brodie in a very Scottish way, as if Sandy had given away a pound of marmalade to an English duke
I’ve never tried making my own, yours looks so bright and delicious! Enjoy 🙂
So many bloggers making marmalade and preserves today! Yummy.
Hat’s off to you and Delia! It looks gorgeous!
It looks fabulous!
It took me a while to get used to the Anglo-Saxon version of marmalade. In Portugal we do marmalade with quinces, which we call “marmelo” (probably that’s the origin of the word).
So pretty! I love marmalade and I bet it tastes marvelous! I’d be too afraid to try and make it–I would probably blow something up! 🙂
