Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!
Marg has the Mr Linky this week!
Just one book for me this week! I placed a hold on Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James as soon as it appeared in the library catalogue months ago. I’ve read a number of very critical reviews since it was published but I’m still looking forward to reading it and seeing how I respond to it. I don’t take Austen dreadfully seriously and am not easily offended by new entries into the Austen industry so I am hoping for a bit of fun.
This has 13 reserves on it right now! it will have to wait till my next time in Melbourne!
This was my Christmas present to myself…and the book I’m saving for an afternoon of tea and reading on New Year’s Day. Looking forward to it!
I’ve seen this one around the internet. Hope you enjoy it!
It has been receiving some less than positive reviews so I’ll look forward to your thoughts. I have it on hold at the library.
Happy New Year!
The reviews have been disappointing, but P D James writes wonderfully and everything I read tells me that she loves Austen. So I’ll pick this up when it appears in the library, but I’m not rushing to place an order.
I do like your cover – so much nicer that the UK hardcover edition.
I must confess that I am not a huge fan of all the Austen spinoffs, mainly because there are just so many of them.
Hope you enjoy your loot though!
I haven’t read a P.D. James in forever-and-awhile. This looks like the one to break the spell, Claire. I’ll be interested in your review at some point (after your New Year’s read?) and, oh dear me, I do tend to just a book by its cover and this cover is so lovely.
