The true genius of open-plan living: even when you’re in a room without books, like this kitchen, at least you can have plenty in sight. That family room looks absolutely ideal, with floor-to-ceiling shelves wrapped around all three walls, only interrupted by huge windows with a nice view to the garden.
What I like is that the area is very bright with natural light and that furniture in the room is inviting one in to sit down and read a book. I also like that it is near the kitchen where one can grab a cup of coffee or tea and something to munch on while one reads.
I’m ready to move in to this one.
I like the light but not sure it would work for me, the kitchen would get in a mess and I don’t think i’d like to sit in the book area staring at a messy kitchen, or get fishy smells wafting through when I’m doing, say, a smoked trout salad! But it looks lovely – I just question the practicality.
Are those actual doors, do you think, or trompe-l’oeil images in front of the bookcases? I like the way they reflect light, and I’d guess with books behind them? hopefully not just empty space.
