This may be my favourite room I’ve ever featured on “Library Lust”. I wish this were my bedroom – it looks absolutely ideal for those days when all you want to do is stay in bed and read. Admittedly, I could do without the sink in the corner (the origins of this photo are unknown but that seems like a pretty significant clue – perhaps a B&B?) but everything else in absolutely perfect. With the dark, wet winter weather closing in here, making the short days seem even shorter, this looks like the perfect room to hole up in. After all, what more does one need to get through the winter than a comfy bed, lots of blankets, and many, many books close at hand?
I absolutely agree — this would be a lovely bedroom, though my shelves would have nothing but books — no fancy ornaments taking up valuable space. You are right, it could be a B&B — I stayed in one in Lyme Regis (Dorset) which was upstairs from a secondhand bookshop and every room was full of books — perfect!
I almost missed the sink in the corner until you said something! It is a gorgeous room and one I would have a hard time getting out of bed if the shelves were just a little closer to the bed…lol
This is a lovely room and does appear to be a B & B. I would be abed for most of the morning here. Doesn’t that plaid blanket look so comfy?
It would be perfect for me, too. It’s funny, I always used to have bookshelves in my bedroom, but when I finally got a two-bedroom apartment I moved them into my ‘library’/office/guest room. So now my bedroom is calm and simple, but my guests get to enjoy the book-lined room (maybe I’ll start sleeping in there once in a while…)
Aaaaah, I’m ready to move in…..
I didn’t notice the sink at first either, but it means water for tea or coffee. I’m sure there is an electric kettle in there somewhere. The bed looks so luxurious & comfortable.
Oh my, this one is perfection. Love the wallpaper, linens, and chair covering as well. Definitely a keeper!
Best library ever. Makes me want to curl up in bed with a book right now.
From the angle of the wall over the sink, and the light on the bed, it looks like there’s a window handy to the bed.
Oh dear, how times have changed … no, this would NOT have been a B&B originally, even if it’s one today. Let me set the record straight here. Until we regularly had en suite bathrooms, i.e. bedrooms with adjoining bathroom or shower room, the next best thing was a basin in each person’s bedroom. Indeed, it was rather upmarket to have a basin in one’s bedroom, folks! Bear in mind that this (and I’m talking of here in the UK) was in the days before we took daily showers or baths, and also families were larger – granny and granddad sometimes living with the family, too – so basins in rooms prevented queues for the bathroom. Until recent times, too, the bathroom and the lavatory were separate. This was usual, so that the lavatory could be used while someone else was using the bathroom. When i was a child only my posh friends had basins in their rooms which I coveted! I had to queue for the bathroom!
Now to that room. It’s simply GOR-GEOUS! But then it has several features which I would choose for a bedroom: toile wallpaper (almost any shade, from palest pink on white to grey on white would be ideal); a sumptuous bed with throws; books by the shed load and tea and cakes or biscuits. Perhaps one of the best Library Lust photos if not the best!
Lovely! Makes me want a plaid blanket for winter. (Watching Emma right now, curled up in bed…)
