Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Marg and myself that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!
Marg has the Mr. Linky this week!
I am currently dedicated to working my way through my outstanding loot, of which there is far too much. But, as always, I was distracted when I went to drop off my books and I came out with these two, both of which were already on my TBR list. Coupland is always fun and imaginative and I’ve heard nothing but praise for the Bruni.
Generation A by Douglas Coupland
In the near future bees are extinct — until one autumn when five people are stung in different places around the world. This shared experience unites them in a way they never could have imagined.
Born Round by Frank Bruni
Frank Bruni was born round. Round as in stout, chubby, and always hungry. His relationship with eating was difficult and his struggle with it began early. When named the restaurant critic for The New York Times in 2004, he knew he would be performing one of the most watched tasks in the epicurean universe. And with food his friend and enemy both, his jitters focused primarily on whether he’d finally made some sense of that relationship. A captivating story of his unpredictable journalistic odyssey as well as his lifelong love-hate affair with food,
These both look fantastic – I’m especially intrigued by Generation A, as the premise sounds a bit Rushdie’s Midnight’s Chidren-ish. Thanks for the lovely Loot, Claire!
I read Born Round last year. It was good. Enjoy!
Born Round sounds like a good read. I’m always interested in memoirs about food issues, though most of the ones I’ve read have been about those who eat too little. This one’s going on my list.
Generation A sounds fascinating!
Enjoy your loot, Claire. 🙂
I’m over looted too. Problem is I keep reading things like this and adding to my want list! Generation A sounds interesting….
