Something pretty to start your weekend; have you seen the gorgeous, embroidered covers created by illustrator Jillian Tamaki for Penguin Threads Deluxe Classics? All three are amazing but I’m particularly attracted to the Secret Garden design – so much colour and detail!
No, I hadn’t seen these, but thanks for sharing. They are beautiful!
Those covers are sooo beautiful – they might even persuade me to read Emma, a book I have not been able to read since we ‘had to’ read it at school, a time far too early for the classics in my opinion; Jane wasn’t writing for children, was she? Of course, some very bright, mature children might comprehend them, but it isn’t until you are mature you can fully appreciate the great writers.
I also think this publisher has hit on a good idea, for aren’t home-crafts once again the ‘in’ thing? All things needlework, craft and vintage, eh? So why not reproductions of needlework on book covers … Oh, clever, clever publisher!

Just beautiful! And very tempting — do I need multiple copies of these books??
These are just stunning and very tempting!
Beautiful! I love Emma’s hair. 🙂
I love the Austen one. I would love one of these on my shelf.
As someone who is a needleworker–I LOVE these. Are they Canadian or British designs? I have this sinking feeling I won’t be able to get them in the US.
Gorgeous! Really Penguin just doesn’t stop with the beautiful books. They have some hardcover editions of a few of their Puffin classics now that are also just adorable. (A pink cover for Anne of Green Gables with cupcakes and tea pots that made me want to buy it right away…)
Thanks for the link to Jillian Tamaki’s blog. Her website shows she’s a woman of many talents.
Oh, and I recommend going to her blog to see the FULL covers, because these works of art include the spine and back as well.
Ohhh: I want the Secret Garden one right now! And I love how Penguin keeps celebrating the beauty of physical books. 😀
I love them. I really do. Specially The Secret Garden, which is one of my favorite books from my childhood days.
These are really amazing!
Ooooh beautiful…ooooo, aaaaaah…
