Oh. Oh my. It’s just so, so pretty. Why, why would you ever leave this room? It even has a ladder. What more could you want?
I trust that there is a window on the other side of the room, too, otherwise why have your bed so that you are sitting in it with your back to the view? Unless the view is awful and that way you’d simply get light onto the book you are reading! But yes, a really pretty room.
Strangely enough, our bedroom is the only room without books. It just isn’t practical to clean hundreds of books each week and so such shelves would be a veritable shrine to dust bunnies and not conducive to good health and sleep. I keep a minimal supply of books on the bedside table (night stand to Americans) and all our books are in the other rooms in the house – and yes, they get dusty there, too! But somehow that doesn’t seem quite as bad as it being dusty where you are sleeping!
A ladder? I’ve always wanted to have a library with a ladder 🙂
This picture is exactly how I want my dream library to be like. One with a ladder! How fun is that! 😀
Absolutely nothing! It’s perfect. I have always, always wanted a ladder. (And I haven’t read it, but your current read has my very favorite Persephone endpaper!)
Now this looks like perfection! I’m not sure you’d ever get me out of the bed, though. Love the chambray linens, the wall of books, the white shelves. This could be my “escape house” by the sea…
Thanks for sharing! Hope you are having a great weekend.
I would add a discreetly hidden mini-frig and microwave.
Very nice.
And I just have to share this bookish video, that I found today at A Library is a Hospital of the mind:

That is beautiful! Just how i’d want my room, but with a few less pillows 🙂
I think this is my favorite of all the libraries you’ve posted so far.
Best. Library. Photo. Ever! You are so right. I would never leave. If there was wine storage hidden somewhere in the room. 🙂
Gorgeous! Where can I get a room like that?
Oh gosh Claire, I love it! And our tastes in these things tend to be on different sides of the tidiness spectrum. One thing I couldn’t cope with in this room, though, is the bed standing bizarrely in the middle of the room. I can’t even cope with a bed against one wall – I need my bed to be in a corner, so I can sit perpendicular and lean against the wall…
Wow – where do you find these pictures?? I would never leave this room!
If this were my bedroom I don’t think I would ever sleep. Could it be my living room instead?
I was thinking I was forgetting to do something today, then, I remembered – your weekly Library Lust post. What a bright, sunny room. I love it. What more could I want? A cup of tea and some shortbread to go with my read.
That’s a wonderful, bright library-cum-bedroom. I don’t think I’d ever leave it!
Other than the fact it would seriously bug me to have my bed in the middle of the room- I love it!
Agree with Susan from TX, the window would open onto a beach, and you could lay in bed and hear the sound of the sea gently lapping on the sand.
Love it. Want it. Need it.
But maybe a reading area instead of the bad? A giant beanbag, a hammocky swing and a desk. Ok, all sorted. 😀
Someday. Someday when my shelves in the living room are completely filled, I’ll convince my husband to build a whole wall of shelves in the bedroom. Not far from happening too, ha ha.
