The librarians of my city either love me or enjoy laughing at me.
Of the 25 books I’ve had on my ‘hold’ list for the last few weeks (in some cases, months), 16 arrived yesterday. I received notification that 1 was available on Sunday night so, during my lunch hour on Monday, I left the office to go and pick it up. Instead of 1, there were 16, taking up and entire shelf. I picked up half of them yesterday and the other half today (since it’s a 2 km walk from the library to my apartment). But now they are all here with me and I can’t wait to read them!

Brilliant! Same thing happened to me once but I could only take out 2 (of the 8 waiting for me) as my ticket was full. I’m allowed 16 – what about you?
Worse still was the time I forgot to renew my books before going on holiday. It was expensive when I came back, I can tell you.
What a lot of wonderful books you have ahead of you! And how amusing that they all turned up at once – do they expect you to be able to read them in a fortnight?!
Some of my favourites there – The Enchanted Places, One Pair of Hands, The L-Shaped Room – enjoy enjoy enjoy!
lizzysiddal – my library’s limit is 99. As hard as I work, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to exceed that!
Simon T – my library loan period is 3 weeks but, even with that, I don’t think I’ll be able to do them all without some renewals. Your reviews were what introduced me to some of the books in the first place and, based on your enthusiasm, I’m very excited to begin them.
I like to read but to me that is a daunting list…
Don’t worry, I’m rather terrified of it too. Ideally, they would have all had spaced out arrivals (as they were put on hold at very different times) but the Library Gods clearly had different plans. I probably will decide that some of them (like The Spare Room) aren’t for me, but that’s the beauty of the library: the opportunity to try so many different books with no commitment or cost!
